Political prisoner journalist Pavel Dabravolski has been sentenced to nine years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony. This was reported by Pozirk. The verdict was handed down by the Minsk City Court. The trial was held behind closed doors starting on 27 February. The journalist was accused of treason.
According to Pozirk, the charges are related to Pavel Dabravolski’s activities during the protest actions in 2020.
Dabravolski left Belarus in 2021 but returned to Minsk in October 2024. In January 2025 he was detained. He is charged under the article on treason (Part 1, Article 356 of the Criminal Code). Last autumn he was transferred from the KGB pre-trial detention centre to SIZO No. 1 in Kaliadzichy.
Pavel Dabravolski is a former journalist of Naviny.by. He previously cooperated with various independent media outlets. During the 2020 protests he was detained and held administratively liable in connection with carrying out his professional activities.
