Investigative Committee Opens Criminal Case Over Death of Belaruskali Worker

Belarus’ Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case over the death of a Belaruskali worker.

According to the Investigative Committee, the fatal accident occurred at Underground Mining Section No. 5 of Mine No. 4 at a depth of 670 meters below ground.

“During the rewiring of electrical equipment at the mine development complex, a 29-year-old on-duty electrical fitter responsible for the maintenance of underground equipment suffered an electric shock. His colleagues immediately reported the incident to the emergency services and called an ambulance. Upon arrival, medical personnel pronounced the man dead,” the committee said.

Investigators examined the scene, seized relevant documentation and ordered forensic examinations. A criminal case has been opened under Article 144 of the Criminal Code (causing death by negligence).
