Hackers Rack Up 20,000 Rubles in Calls to Egypt at Expense of Minsk Company

Hackers made international calls to Egypt at the expense of a Minsk company, causing losses of around 20,000 rubles. The incident was reported by the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

The director of a capital-based company contacted the police. According to him, the operator disconnected the company’s communications, and a debt of more than 20,000 rubles appeared on the account. The applicant insisted that none of the employees had made calls to Egypt.

“It was established that unauthorised access to the Minsk company’s server was carried out from an IP address in another country. The hackers took advantage of weak security and made a series of international calls from the organisation’s internal number, including to Egypt and other non-neighbouring countries,” the police said.

A criminal case has been opened.
