American preacher Franklin Graham expects Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Donald Trump to meet in the near future. He said this after his meeting with Lukashenka.
“He wants relations to improve. Presidents Trump and Lukashenka are very similar to each other. They are strong leaders, people with a vision for the future. It would be good for these two leaders to meet each other as soon as possible. That would be good for everyone.
I am here as a preacher of the Gospel. I am not a politician. I do not work for the US government. I am simply a person sharing the message of God’s love for everyone. At the same time, we are friends with President Trump. Sometimes I serve as his spiritual adviser. We cannot ignore politicians. Even though I am a preacher, we must work with politicians, encourage them and pray for them,” BelTA quoted Graham as saying.
Graham described the conversation with Lukashenka as excellent.
“We discussed many issues. I hope we can work together for better understanding between the United States and Belarus. That we will witness stronger relations. I liked him very much. He is very open and easy to communicate with,” he noted.
“I support peace. And I am convinced that President Lukashenka does as well, and I know President Trump does too,” he added.
The preacher said he was deeply impressed by the beauty of Belarus and its people.
During the meeting, Alyaksandr Lukashenka sent greetings to Donald Trump through Graham.
It should be noted that reports of a possible meeting between Trump and Lukashenka have surfaced repeatedly in the past. According to Lukashenka, such a meeting could even take place at the American president’s private residence.
Franklin Graham, head of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, is visiting Belarus from May 14 to 18. The official purpose of the visit is participation in a Protestant festival.
