Government Updates Composition of Commission on State Price Regulation

The Council of Ministers, by Resolution No. 245 dated May 14, updated the composition of the commission on state price regulation. The resolution was officially published today on the National Legal Internet Portal.

Previously, the commission had a персональный composition, but now its members will serve by virtue of their positions. The commission will be headed by the first deputy prime minister, while the first deputy minister of antimonopoly regulation and trade will serve as deputy chair of the commission. The commission’s secretary is the deputy head of the analytical department of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade.

The commission also includes deputy heads of Belstat, the National Bank, the Finance Ministry, the Economy Ministry, regional executive committees, the Minsk City Executive Committee, and the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus.

The commission is now authorized to consider three categories of issues:

  • improving price regulation carried out by republican state administration bodies and other organizations subordinate to the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, regional executive committees, and the Minsk City Executive Committee;
  • implementation by republican state administration bodies and other organizations subordinate to the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, regional executive committees, and the Minsk City Executive Committee of the rights and obligations established by legislation for regulating prices (tariffs) for goods (works, services);
  • analysis of prices (tariffs) for goods (services) provided by natural monopoly entities.

Previously, the commission was also authorized to review the results of inspections conducted by state bodies and state organizations on price regulation, as well as draft regulatory acts on pricing issues.
