A foreign national born in 1989 has been charged under five articles of the Criminal Code, including murder and hostage-taking. The case has been transferred to Homiel Regional Court, the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
According to the case materials, the accused lived in Dobrush. In September 2023, he systematically beat his underage stepdaughter, born in 2007, dragging her by the hair, holding her down and squeezing her neck. One of the reasons was the girl’s use of a mobile phone.
School staff noticed signs of abuse against the child and informed the police. The man stopped beating his stepdaughter only after a preliminary investigation was launched against him on October 9, 2023.
On October 9, 2025, while drunk, the accused brutally killed his wife despite knowing that she was pregnant. He stabbed the woman at least twice in the chest and neck in the presence of her young children and brother. She died at the scene from blood loss.
The woman’s underage son, born in 2009, tried to protect his mother. The accused stabbed him at least four times in the chest and limbs. The boy survived because he actively resisted and received timely medical assistance.
Threatening his stepdaughter with a knife, the man committed sexual acts against her next to the body of his murdered wife and raped her.
When riot police arrived to detain the accused, he took the stepdaughter hostage, threatening her with a knife. The man demanded that the officers give him a weapon and leave the house.
The riot police officers disarmed the man by taking away the knife and freed the hostage.
All of the children were taken to hospital and then sent to a local social and educational centre. They were later placed with a foster family. The accused was stripped of parental rights over three children.
