The supply of foreign currency in Belarus exceeded demand by $538.22 million in July, according to the latest data from the National Bank. Over the first seven months of the year, the cumulative surplus in foreign currency supply reached nearly $1.3 billion.
In July, turnover on the foreign exchange market totalled $14.66 billion, the highest monthly figure recorded this year. Compared with the same month last year, turnover increased by 23.5%.
Households purchased $1.21 billion worth of foreign currency in July and sold $1.42 billion, resulting in net foreign currency sales of $213.4 million.
Banks purchased $7.7 billion worth of foreign currency last month and sold $7.67 billion. As a result, they were net buyers of $25.4 million.
Non-residents purchased $320.1 million worth of foreign currency in July and sold $546.6 million, generating net foreign currency sales of $226.5 million.
Belarusian businesses purchased $4.22 billion worth of foreign currency during the month and sold $4.34 billion, resulting in net foreign currency sales of $123.7 million.
Foreign exchange market turnover for the first seven months of the year reached $90.07 billion, up 22.8% compared with the same period in 2025.
Between January and July, households purchased $7.97 billion worth of foreign currency and sold $9.3 billion, generating net foreign currency sales of $1.336 billion.
Over the same period, banks purchased $47.3 billion worth of foreign currency and sold $47.2 billion, making them net buyers of $106.4 million.
Non-residents purchased $1.96 billion worth of foreign currency during the first seven months of the year and sold $2.735 billion, generating net foreign currency sales of $772.6 million.
Since the beginning of the year, Belarusian businesses have purchased $26.38 billion worth of foreign currency and sold $25.68 billion, resulting in net foreign currency purchases of $705.3 million.
