Fishing Trip Lands Orsha District Resident in Criminal Case

A 63-year-old resident of the Orsha district went fishing and ended up facing criminal charges.

According to the Investigative Committee, the man was fishing on the bank of the Dnipro River with two fishing rods when officers from the Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora approached him. His catch included a common barbel, a species listed in the Red Book of Belarus. Police were called to the scene.

A criminal case was subsequently opened against the man, with the environmental damage assessed at 6,400 Belarusian rubles.
