Facebook of German-Belarusian Society Added to “Extremist Materials” List

The Information Ministry has updated its list of “extremist materials”.

By a decision of the Leninski District Court of Brest, the Facebook account of Deutsch-belarussische Gesellschaft (dbg) has been designated as “extremist materials”.

“The German-Belarusian Society (Deutsch-Belarusische Gesellschaft e.V.) is one of the oldest German civil society organisations promoting dialogue between Belarus and Germany,” the organisation’s website says. It was founded at the end of the last century.

The organisation is responsible for organising the Minsk Forum, the latest of which took place in Berlin in 2024.

This is not the only “German” addition to the list. The Facebook page “Botschaft des Volkes von Belarus in Deutschland” (People’s Embassy in Germany) has also been included.

In addition, the list now includes:

  • Threads accounts “viasna96” (“Human Rights Centre Viasna”), “Black Swan for …”, “Sviatlana Kutkovich”, “Ihar Diduel”, “ZBS ǀ BSA ǀ zbsunion.org”, “Ales”, “raslkulevich”;
  • the Telegram channel “Shukaem Belarusau”;
  • the closed chat “POTOK” on the social network VKontakte;
  • Instagram accounts “volat_uav_group”, “bkspahonia”, “team_ivulin”;
  • the TikTok account “grodnonovosti44”.

It is recalled that in Belarus, the authorities use extremism charges to target political opponents and dissent more broadly.
