Alyaksandr Lukashenka wants to revise the approach to the “One District — One Project” programme. He said he is not satisfied with many of the projects or their implementation. In particular, he wants to redirect funds to district agricultural service organisations.
According to him, a meeting on the programme’s implementation will be held soon. He said the focus should not be on large volumes of financing but on feasibility and economic efficiency. Lukashenka believes that restoring agricultural service organisations across the country could be such a project for districts.
“Everyone thought there would be easy money — 154 projects under the ‘One District — One Project’ programme — they aimed high, but not everything was done. But agricultural machinery services and district and regional service organisations are exactly such a project. In some places they are even more important than creating five jobs and producing plastic or making bags, and so on. That may also be needed.
But these are good projects that should be implemented. And if someone invested funds intended for the ‘One District — One Project’ programme into such areas, I think that is not a bad thing”, he said during a visit to Mozyrtekhservice.
He added that other areas, including construction and road infrastructure, also need to be reviewed.
