Against the backdrop of the U.S. conflict with Iran, which has disrupted supplies of nitrogen fertilizers and gas from the Persian Gulf, the European Commission is considering an action plan aimed at mitigating the consequences of the conflict for European farmers.
According to RMF FM, the plan includes suspending import tariffs on nitrogen fertilizers and materials used in their production for one year. However, the suspension would not apply to Belarus or Russia. Last year, the EU adopted regulations introducing additional tariffs on fertilizers from Belarus and Russia, which are intended to become prohibitive over time.
