The European Commission has allocated €2.8 billion to Ukraine. The funding represents the seventh tranche of budget support under the €50 billion programme approved in 2024.
Over the past two years, the European Commission has already transferred €29.5 billion to Ukraine. The programme is based on loans serviced through income generated from frozen Russian assets.
Also today, Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, announced that Hungary is lifting its veto on the allocation of €6.6 billion. The funds will be used to reimburse European Union member states for military supplies provided to Ukraine.
“The loan of 90 billion euros to Ukraine is ready for disbursement, and the first tranche of 5.9 billion euros will be directed toward the purchase of drones this month,” she added.
