European Choice Passes Vote of No Confidence in Aliaksandra Mamayeva

The European Choice faction of the Coordination Council has passed a vote of no confidence in Aliaksandra Mamayeva. The decision was adopted by a qualified majority of three-quarters of the votes. The stated grounds were “well-founded security concerns.”

“In connection with this decision, further representation of Aliaksandra Mamayeva on behalf of European Choice in the Coordination Council is no longer possible,” the faction said.

Mamayeva is an activist who headed the International Commission of the Coordination Council and participated in the creation of the Belarusian People’s Embassies initiative. She has lived in Slovenia since 2015. Last autumn, she publicly spoke about attempts by the KGB to recruit her. According to her account, in 2021 she was offered cooperation in exchange for a safe return to Belarus. In 2024, an agent posing as a client in the yacht business allegedly attempted to obtain information about the Belarusian diaspora and threatened her relatives. She said she reported the incidents to Slovenian police and colleagues in the democratic movement.
