Electric vehicles account for 14.5% of the taxi fleet in Belarus, or 4,050 vehicles, according to Andrei Hladki, head of the main department at the Ministry of Transport, in an interview with Belarusian television.
He said the relevant register currently includes about 11,000 carriers, 27,700 vehicles and 37,300 taxi drivers.
The register continues to expand, with around 300 vehicles and about 500 drivers added over the past few months.
Around 10 million taxi journeys are made in Belarus, with the average fare currently standing at 12.1 Belarusian roubles per trip.
“In terms of completed bookings, around 10 million rides are carried out across the country. According to the statistics, the average fare is 12 roubles and 10 kopecks. That is the cost of a single passenger trip. Significant changes are taking place in the market. A fairly large player has now entered the market.
Following the results for May and June, we have observed that the number of bookings handled by this dispatcher has tripled. Therefore, it is a competitive market, and everyone is striving to provide a higher-quality service. I believe this will benefit passengers, road carriers that pay attention to transport safety and service quality, as well as the state as a whole. For example, by the end of 2025, tax revenues from the taxi transport sector had doubled,” Hladki said.
