EDB Notes Faster Wage Growth in Belarus’s Public Sector

Rising wages in Belarus amid slowing inflation are creating conditions for further growth in consumer activity, according to the Eurasian Development Bank’s weekly review of the economies of its member states. At the same time, the bank’s analysts highlighted faster wage growth in the public sector.

In April, real wages increased by 6.7% year-on-year, compared with growth of 8.1% in March.

“In the public sector, wage dynamics remain above the economy-wide average. According to our estimates, growth in real wages accelerated to 9.7% year-on-year from 9.2% year-on-year a month earlier. Against the backdrop of slowing inflation, rising wages will continue to support growth in real disposable household incomes, which increased by 7.6% year-on-year in January–March 2026,” the EDB said.
