Strong winds have reduced visibility on roads in Belarus. On the R-93 highway between Mahiliou and Babruisk, a dust cloud caused a collision involving five vehicles between Babruisk and the village of Yasny Les. One person is being examined by medics, the Mahiliou regional police reported.
Traffic police recommend refraining from travel if possible. Drivers who do take to the road are advised to reduce speed to a minimum, increase following distance and avoid sudden manoeuvres, as crosswinds may push neighbouring vehicles into oncoming lanes. When dust appears, low-beam headlights should be switched on. Extra caution is advised when exiting forested areas, on bridges and on open stretches.
Pedestrians are reminded that strong winds make it more difficult for drivers to control vehicles, and they should not run across the road.
