Drones Attack Ilsky Oil Refinery in Krasnodar Territory

Russian regions came under a large-scale attack by Ukrainian drones on the night of September 26. Five people were injured in Rostov region. There were fatalities in Krasnodar Territory, while deaths and injuries were reported in Belgorod region.

Rostov Region Governor Yury Slyusar said that more than 30 drones had been destroyed in the region. In Azov, falling drone debris damaged apartment buildings and private houses, industrial facilities, a school, a cultural centre and cars. Five people, including a child, were injured in Taganrog and Azov. All were hospitalized.

According to information from Governor Veniamin Kondratyev, the attack in Krasnodar Territory took place in Seversky District. He reported fatalities and one person who was seriously injured. Drone debris damaged a residential building, and fires broke out at two industrial facilities.

According to OSINT analysis by Astra, the Ilsky oil refinery in Seversky District, Krasnodar Territory, was also attacked and caught fire overnight. The regional authorities have not confirmed that the refinery was hit. The facility is located about 50 kilometres from Krasnodar and has a capacity of approximately 6.6 million tonnes of oil per year. It is described as one of the leading oil refineries in southern Russia, with products used, among other purposes, to supply Russian troops. The Ilsky refinery has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian drones.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported that 20 drones heading towards the Russian capital had been destroyed.

The Belgorod Region Operations Headquarters reported drone attacks and other damage in several municipalities. In particular, a couple was killed when a drone attacked their car in the village of Zozuli. A man was also reported killed in the village of Sankovo, while several people were injured in various settlements across the region.

The Russian Defence Ministry said that from 8 p.m. on September 25 to 8 a.m. on September 26, Russian air defences intercepted and destroyed 645 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over Russian regions, the Moscow region, Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, Crimea, and the Black and Azov seas.
