Belarus’ Ministry of Defence has updated the list of specialties under which female citizens are subject to initial military registration. The relevant Resolution No. 14 of July 30, 2026, has been published on the National Legal Internet Portal. The document enters into force following its official publication.
The new version replaces the list that had been in effect since 2020. While the previous list covered a limited number of predominantly medical specialties, the updated version is significantly broader and has been aligned with the current classification of educational programs.
Under the resolution, women aged 19 and older who have completed training in specialties required by the Armed Forces, other troops and military formations are subject to initial military registration.
The list covers specialties in secondary specialized, higher and advanced higher education, as well as retraining programs.
They include:
The list also includes retraining programs in outpatient care, anesthesiology, radiology, surgery and medical support for military service, upon completion of which graduates are awarded the qualification of “Military Paramedic.”
The Ministry of Defence’s Resolution of Feb. 3, 2020, provided for the military registration of women with a much narrower range of specialties. At that time, the list included physicians trained in general medicine and preventive medicine, several physician retraining programs, as well as specialists with secondary medical education in general medicine and nursing, and two retraining programs for mid-level medical personnel — anesthesiology and surgery.
The updated version introduces veterinary medicine, pharmacy, medical diagnostics, and nursing as a higher education specialty for the first time, along with several new retraining programs. At the same time, the list has been brought into line with the new system of educational specialty codes.
However, the requirement for women with relevant qualifications to register for military service is not new. It was already established by the 2020 resolution. The key change in the new version is that it explicitly states that initial military registration is to take place from the age of 19.
