Death Toll From Strike on Kyiv Rises to 30

The death toll from yesterday’s Russian attack on Kyiv has risen to 30, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported. A Day of Mourning has been declared in the Ukrainian capital today.

According to information provided by Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, the search and rescue operation has been ongoing for a second day. Forensic experts are working to identify recovered body fragments.

“Doctors have stabilised the condition of a one-year-old boy, a five-year-old girl, their parents and their grandmother. The injured remain in hospital, and their condition is improving. A total of four injured children are currently hospitalised. The 10-year-old boy who was mentioned yesterday has most likely been orphaned. His parents are listed as missing.

The boy’s grandfather is with him in the hospital. A 15-year-old girl is also currently missing. As of now, 30 people have been killed in Kyiv as a result of the massive attack. Ninety-two city residents have been injured. As of this morning, 56 wounded people remain in hospital, including six healthcare workers,” he said.

As previously reported, Russia launched a massive strike on the Ukrainian capital on July 2. Residential buildings, the Palladin Institute of Biochemistry, a hotel, a partially built emergency medical substation and a petrol station were damaged.
