Alyaksandr Lukashenka on Jan. 22 signed a decree aimed at improving the activities of Belarus’s customs authorities.
Under the document, customs authorities are granted new powers to carry out checks at departmental customs clearance points inside the country to verify whether foreign carriers possess permit documents — so-called “dazvoly” — allowing transit through Belarus. Previously, customs checks of road transport were carried out exclusively at the border.
The adoption of the decree is expected to increase the effectiveness of control over international road transport in Belarus, Lukashenka’s press service said.
