A working meeting was held within the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to prepare the “Barrier-2026” exercise, which is scheduled to take place in Belarus in October this year.
According to the organization’s secretariat, representatives of the Belarusian and Russian defense ministries, as well as the CSTO Joint Staff, took part in the meeting.
“Issues related to the preparation of the ‘Barrier-2026’ exercise (October, Belarus), the implementation of Russia’s priorities in the development of military medicine and protection against biological threats, as well as the organization of research work during the exercise with the involvement of CSTO radiation, chemical and biological protection and medical support units were discussed,” the statement said.
It was noted that the CSTO radiation, chemical and biological protection and medical support unit was created in 2022. If necessary, it can be deployed in the territories of CSTO member states to ensure the protection of the organization’s collective forces, as well as to participate in collective response measures in the event of a large-scale and rapid spread of dangerous infectious diseases.
