The situation around Belarus remains stable. The number of flights near the country’s western borders is declining. The Belarusian military is interacting with neighboring countries in the field of air force and air defense. said Andrei Lukyanovich, commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces, in an interview with STV.
“We are actually seeing that the significant number of contingents – both airborne, that is, the number of aircraft along our western borders – has decreased, and the ground component has also decreased. And we are carrying out combat duty tasks, that is, regularly monitoring the airspace around the clock and recording a significant decrease in the number of flights (both combat and reconnaissance aircraft) along our borders”, he said.
According to him, the situation currently poses no threat.
“As part of operational duty, we have ongoing interaction with the Republic of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. We regularly notify them about flights, and they warn us about flights in the border area. This interaction is currently taking place. And we also provide notifications through the operational duty channel.
Interaction was absent only with Latvia. And recently, we also restored dialogue with them. Through the operational duty channel, we continue interaction between our air forces”, he added.
Lukyanovich did not disclose what exactly the interaction with neighboring countries involves.
