Chinese Investors Seek to Increase Refrigerator Production in Brest Region

Chinese investors are looking to expand refrigerator production in the Brest region, Brest Region Executive Committee Chairman Pyotr Parkhomchyk said.

“For example, our project in refrigerator production is developing successfully. The latest proposal from the Chinese side is to provide additional space to increase production. This requires infrastructure to be created. We are preparing such sites in order to provide them,” he said, BelTA reported.

According to him, household appliances are being successfully exported. The reference is to refrigerator production in Baranavichy. The project has been implemented with the participation of Midea Group, which previously carried out production in Tatarstan.

Parkhomchyk also said that the Chinese company has proposals for other “products they would like to manufacture in the Brest region”.

Another project involving a Chinese company is the modernisation of greenhouse facilities. According to Parkhomchyk , a “super greenhouse” will be built near Brest. At the first stage, its area will be 1.7 hectares. He said this would significantly increase the production of tomatoes and cucumbers.

“All agreements are in place, all documents have been signed, equipment is being manufactured and delivered. The task is to build it this year and start vegetable production,” he said.
