Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus Paval Muraveika held a phone conversation with Chief of the General Staff of Azerbaijan Kerim Veliyev. The call took place at the initiative of the Belarusian side, Trend reported, citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense.
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the situation in the region, security issues, and military cooperation. They also discussed strikes by Iranian drones on civilian infrastructure in Nakhchivan. The interlocutors stressed that such actions contradict international law.
A similar call with Veliyev was also held on his own initiative by Chief of the General Staff of Slovakia, General Daniel Zmeko.
Kerim Veliyev thanked his colleagues for their position and the support provided.
As previously reported, on March 5 drones exploded near the airport in Nakhchivan. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry condemned the attack by Iran. In turn, Iran stated that it had not attacked Azerbaijani territory.
