Customers at a chain store in Krasnapolle were offered dairy and prepared food products past their expiration dates. The violations were uncovered by the State Control Committee’s Mahiliou Region office.

More than 50 expired items had been gathered in the middle of the sales floor and were being sold at discounts of up to 50%. According to the agency, the products had expired between one and 18 days earlier.

In addition, inspectors found fruit on the shelves showing signs of rot and damaged skins.

The substandard products were removed from sale. The store manager was denied a bonus by the employer, and the store’s operations were placed under special monitoring.

Cases involving the sale of expired and substandard goods were also uncovered at chain stores in Krychau.
