Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, believes that Belarusian democratic movement leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya would not be able, “even in theory,” to prevent provocations originating from Belarusian territory.
He made the remarks during the Security Architecture forum.
“We must be strong and ready for anything, and then no one will have foolish ideas. Do we need anyone’s help to eliminate the very possibility of any provocations? That is never a bad thing. Can Ms. Tsikhanouskaya cope with this task? I will express a purely subjective opinion: no, she cannot, even in theory. But I will repeat my first point once again: we must be strong — and then everything will be fine, others will take us into account, and no one will do anything foolish,” Budanov said.
He expressed hope that Ukraine would be able to take the right steps to “eliminate the very idea” of Belarusian territory being used again for armed aggression against Ukraine.
