Belshina and Russian Peers Seek Protection From Chinese Tyres From EEC

Tyre manufacturers have asked the Eurasian Economic Commission to protect the market from growing imports, primarily from China.

According to Kommersant, Belshina was among the signatories to the appeal. It joined Cordiant, Kama and Ikon Tyres.

In response to the manufacturers’ initiative, the Eurasian Economic Commission may launch a special safeguard investigation into passenger car and light truck tyres imported into the Eurasian Economic Union.

The outcome of the investigation could be the introduction of import duties or import quotas.

According to the newspaper, China accounts for 75% of tyre imports into Russia. More than 200 Chinese passenger tyre brands are present on the market, and their number continues to grow. Chinese brands account for one-third of the Russian market.
