During a visit to the Czech Republic, representatives of BELPOL held a closed briefing for diplomatic missions accredited in Prague. The event took place at the Czech office of the Belarusian democratic forces.
At the briefing, participants were presented with up-to-date information on the continuing repressions in Belarus, attempts by the Belarusian authorities to break out of international isolation using a humanitarian agenda, as well as the country’s growing militarization.
Participants emphasized that the militarization policy pursued by the regime poses a threat both to the sovereignty of Belarus and to the security of NATO member states.
As part of the visit, two separate meetings were held. During a meeting with a representative of the Government of National Unity of Myanmar in the Czech Republic, BELPOL representatives shared information about the cooperation between the Lukashenka regime and the country’s military junta. At a meeting with the Czech Foreign Ministry, participants discussed sanctions evasion and areas in which the Czech Republic could strengthen pressure on the regime.
In addition, a working meeting took place with representatives of the office of the Belarusian democratic forces in the Czech Republic, during which particular attention was paid to security issues and additional areas of cooperation.
