Russian investigators have completed a criminal investigation into a Belarusian national, Uladzimir Vitsikau, who threw a two-year-old child to the floor at Sheremetyevo Airport. The 31-year-old Belarusian is charged with attempted murder, the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow Region reported.
The incident occurred on June 23, 2025. According to the investigation, the man, who was under the influence of drugs, was waiting for a connecting flight in the airport’s arrivals area. He saw a young boy nearby, picked him up and forcefully threw him to the floor. The child was hospitalized with injuries.
A comprehensive psychological and psychiatric examination found that the man was unable to understand the factual nature and social danger of his actions. Before flying to Russia, he had used narcotic substances, which likely aggravated his underlying medical condition.
The criminal case has been sent to court. By court decision, compulsory medical measures may be applied to the defendant.
The accused has admitted his guilt, the Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor’s Office reported.
