Belarusian Retailers Sold 3.4 Billion Rubles Worth of Alcohol in First Half of the Year

Sales of alcoholic beverages and beer through retail trade organizations totaled 3.4 billion Belarusian rubles in the first half of the year. This category accounted for 6.5% of total retail turnover, according to data published by Belstat.

Sales of alcoholic beverages, measured in terms of pure alcohol, increased by 0.3% year-on-year to just under 3.7 million decaliters during the first six months of the year.

Sales increased for:

  • vodka, up 1.7% to 4.03 million decaliters;
  • liqueurs and spirits, up 18.7% to 703,800 decaliters;
  • cognac, cognac-based beverages, and brandy, up 7.1% to 692,100 decaliters;
  • sparkling wines, up 1.6% to 1.03 million decaliters;
  • low-alcohol beverages, up 5.1% to 2.377 million decaliters.

Sales declined for:

  • grape wines, down 2.8% to 1.59 million decaliters;
  • fruit wines, down 19.1% to 1.37 million decaliters;
  • beer, down 1.4% to 18.88 million decaliters;
  • other alcoholic beverages, down 7.5% to 579,400 decaliters.
