Belarusian Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Siarhei Maslyak has been detained for taking a bribe. This was announced today by Alyaksandr Lukashenka at a meeting on combating intermediaries.
“He was caught red-handed. I warned you that we do not just grab anyone off the street. Shved, and now Dzmitry Hora, are strictly controlling this. If necessary, they will report. No one takes anyone for no reason. If you are guilty — go and answer for it,” he said, according to his press service.
Lukashenka emphasized that law enforcement agencies have sufficient resources to detect corruption.
“If they catch you by the ‘gills’ taking a bribe — that’s it, the conversation is over. That is exactly what happened,” he added.
“Do not touch what is not yours, leave it alone! Corruption is not just rust, as I used to say. It is war. At its core lies this terrible corruption,” he warned officials.
It should be recalled that Siarhei Maslyak was appointed minister in April 2024. Before that, he headed the administration of Minsk’s Zavadski District for five years.
