Customs officers in Brest uncovered a group that had organised a cross-border route for transporting precursors used in the production of drugs and psychotropic substances. In total, more than 155 kg of liquid was transported across the border with Poland.
“The organisers of the illegal scheme disguised the prohibited substances as canisters of brake fluid and moved them through the Brest checkpoint under the guise of goods for personal use. They involved third parties in the transportation for payment, and those individuals did not know what the containers held”, the State Customs Committee said.
A total of 24 canisters were seized, 13 of them in Brest.
The liquid contained the precursors 4′-chloropropiophenone, 2-Bromo-4′-chloropropiophenone and alpha-bromovalerophenone.
A criminal case has been opened and suspects have been detained.
