Belarus has presented Egypt with a comprehensive proposal to establish assembly production facilities for Belarusian trucks and tractors, as well as a concept for creating a grain and feed hub. This was stated by Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktar Karankevich during a meeting with Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Saleh.
In addition, agreements were reached on supplies of dairy products, MTZ tractors and MAZ trucks, tires, cellulose, cottonized fiber, and construction materials. Projects are also being implemented in pharmacology, water purification, and solid waste processing, Karankevich noted.
The Egyptian side proposed using its territory as a hub for exporting Belarusian machinery to African and Middle Eastern countries.
“We propose that Belarusian manufacturers of trucks and tractors use Egypt as a hub for exports to Africa and the Middle East. We propose improving our cooperation by drawing up a joint plan,” the Egyptian minister of investment and foreign trade said.
According to him, the Egyptian delegation had productive work in Belarus over the course of two days. “I think the primary and most important factor in developing trade relations will be investment,” he said. “We are impressed by your experience in modernizing the power grid, which we are also currently working on in Egypt. I would be grateful if I could turn to you for expertise for joint cooperation.”
Belarus also welcomed the interest of Egyptian airline Air Cairo in launching direct regular flights between Minsk and Cairo. Karankevich promised to create the most comfortable conditions possible for such flights.
In 2026, the sides plan to hold the first meeting of the High-Level Commission on Bilateral Cooperation at the level of foreign ministers, as well as the fourth meeting of the Belarusian-Egyptian working group on industrial cooperation.
The Egyptian delegation is visiting Belarus from May 4 to May 8.
