A second Union State tourist information centre is expected to open in Belarus in 2027. The announcement was made by Union State State Secretary Sergey Glazyev on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, TASS reported.
The first centre is being established in Smolensk. According to Glazyev, preparations for the site are currently underway, while information networks and mobile applications are expected to be launched next year. The centres are intended to serve as platforms for collecting information about the tourism opportunities of the two countries and developing joint travel routes.
“Belarusian and Russian профильные agencies are actively working together. A tourist information and service centre is currently being established in Smolensk. Next year, we plan to create a similar centre in Belarus,” he said.
Hlazieu also noted the rapid growth of the tourism services market and increasing interest among Russians in travelling to Belarus.
“For many objective reasons, citizens who previously focused on long-haul foreign destinations have now turned their attention to Belarus and have discovered with interest that Belarus has many beautiful, interesting and worthwhile places,” he said.
The decision to establish Union State tourist centres in both countries was announced in September 2024.
