Belarus’ gold and foreign exchange reserves stood at $16.366 billion as of March 1, setting a new record. The data were published by the National Bank. In February, the reserves increased by another $665.5 million.
The increase in reserves, as in previous months, was mainly ensured by a rise in the value of monetary gold included in the reserves. In February its value grew by $406.7 million to $9.035 billion. Reserve assets in foreign currency also increased. They rose by $275.8 million to $5.92 billion. The value of special drawing rights decreased by $17 million to $1.41 billion. The reserve position in the IMF and other assets, amounting to $0.03 billion and $0.1 million respectively, did not change.
Since the beginning of the year, Belarus’ gold and foreign exchange reserves have increased by $1.94 billion, including a $1.567 billion rise in the value of monetary gold and a $376.4 million increase in reserve assets in foreign currency.
