Belarus and Uzbekistan have signed a declaration on a strategic partnership, along with a number of other documents, following the Uzbek president’s visit to Minsk.
The Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership Relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan was signed by Aliaksandr Lukashenka and Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
“This is a historic step. The document formally establishes the high level of bilateral relations based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, trust and consideration of each other’s interests. It will provide additional momentum for joint work in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in the areas of security and countering modern challenges and threats,” Lukashenka said, commenting on the signing.
Deputy prime ministers Yury Shuleika and Jamshid Khodjayev also signed a roadmap for the development of trade, economic, social and humanitarian cooperation for 2026–2030.
The finance ministries of the two countries signed a memorandum of cooperation. Memorandums were also signed covering labour and social protection, agriculture, scientific and technical cooperation, fundamental and strategic research, culture and the arts, tourism, and the light industry.
