Belarus And India Discuss Expanding Trade

Belarus and India discussed intensifying bilateral cooperation, including trade, the international agenda, and preparations for joint events in Minsk. The issues were raised at a meeting on January 23 between First Deputy Foreign Minister Siarhei Lukashevich and India’s ambassador to Belarus Ashok Kumar.

The sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of Belarusian-Indian relations, including exchanges of visits at the highest and high levels. Further expansion of mutual trade and cooperation at international platforms was also discussed.

Lukashevich emphasized Belarus’s readiness for active engagement with New Delhi within the framework of India’s BRICS chairmanship in 2026.

The interlocutors highlighted the importance of holding the 12th meeting of the Belarusian-Indian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Minsk as soon as possible, as well as events focused on healthcare, technology, and education.

Lukashevich congratulated the head of the Indian diplomatic mission on the upcoming 77th anniversary of the Republic of India, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry reported.
