The foreign ministries of Belarus and Brazil held consultations. A Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yauhen Shestakou visited the Latin American country for the talks. His Brazilian counterpart was Deputy Foreign Minister Roberto Abdalla.
The sides discussed bilateral political dialogue and outlined a plan for joint events. The delegations agreed on the need to resume the work of the commission on economic cooperation. They also noted mutual interest in increasing bilateral trade, diversifying export and import supplies, and expanding cooperation in agriculture, industry and investment.
The consultations also covered cooperation at the UN, BRICS and other international organizations.
Yauhen Shestakou also held talks with Rodrigo Zerbone Loureiro, Executive Secretary of Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry, Foreign Trade and Services. The sides considered the most promising areas of cooperation in trade, economic, scientific and technological fields.
Shestakou discussed steps to intensify industrial cooperation with Jamal Bittar, vice president of the National Confederation of Industry. The talks included joint projects to produce tractors and other agricultural machinery, as well as opportunities for cooperation in the mining and petrochemical industries and information technology.
