Rescuers have dealt with the aftermath of bad weather in five regions of Belarus and Minsk. Emergency Ministry units removed fallen and dangerous trees and dismantled damaged structural elements. Fortunately, there were no casualties, the ministry’s press service reported.
In the Hrodna region, rescuers received five reports of fallen and dangerous trees on roads in the Hrodna, Voranava, Dziatlava and Smarhon districts, as well as in Hrodna. In addition, in the regional capital, assistance was required twice to remove deformed sheets of metal from the roof of an unused water tower and from the balcony of an apartment building.
In the Mahiliou region, Emergency Ministry units responded seven times to remove eight fallen trees in Horki, Krasnapolle, Chavusy, Shklou, Slauharad and Mahiliou districts.
In Minsk, rescuers provided assistance to residents and organisations 14 times. Nine callouts involved cutting up dangerous and fallen trees, while another three involved removing sheets of metal from roofs. Rescuers also dismantled a dangerous metal structure from the facade of a residential building and removed a detached section of an advertising poster from a billboard. A passenger car was damaged as a result of the bad weather.
In the Vitsyebsk region, rescuers responded six times to cut up and remove trees: twice in the Orsha district, three times in the Vitsyebsk district and once in the Dokshytsy district.
One additional callout was recorded in the Minsk region, where a tree was removed in Barysau, and another in the Homiel region, where assistance was required to cut up a tree in the village of Asoutsy.
Rescuers continue to monitor the situation.
