Babruisk District Resident Dies After Snake Bite

A woman from Babruisk District died after being bitten by a snake in September this year, the State Committee for Forensic Examinations (SCFE) has reported.

The snake bit the 70-year-old woman on the leg near her home. A bluish swelling developed around the wound, and she experienced weakness, shortness of breath and dizziness. A neighbour called an ambulance.

Despite medical assistance, the woman died two hours after the bite.

Forensic experts found two bite wounds on the woman’s leg. They also identified signs of anaphylactic shock, including bronchospasm, swelling of the bronchial mucous membrane in the lungs and severe pulmonary alveolar oedema, which caused her death.

The species of snake that bit the woman has not been disclosed.
