Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Promises Response Measures After Iranian Attack

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has condemned an Iranian attack on Azerbaijani territory and stated that response measures may follow. The Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan was summoned to the ministry to receive a note of protest.

According to the Foreign Ministry, one drone fell on the terminal building of the airport in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, while another landed near a school building in the village of Shekerabad. The airport building was damaged. Two civilians were injured.

“We strongly condemn these drone attacks carried out from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which damaged the airport building and injured two civilians. This attack on the territory of Azerbaijan contradicts the norms and principles of international law and contributes to rising tensions in the region,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

Baku demands that Tehran provide explanations and take immediate measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“The Azerbaijani side reserves the right to take appropriate response measures,” the ministry said.
