The Hrodna apartment of journalist Uladzimir Khilmanovich has been sold at auction on the second attempt.
Nine bidders took part in the auction held on the Belyurobespecheniye website. The starting price was 100,800 Belarusian rubles. The winning bid amounted to 136,000 Belarusian rubles.
Earlier, Khilmanovich’s country house was sold at auction.
Khilmanovich was sentenced in absentia to five years in a penal colony on charges of facilitating “extremist” activities (Part 1 of Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code) and participating in an “extremist” formation (Part 3 of Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code). In addition to the prison sentence imposed in absentia, Khilmanovich was fined 1,000 base units. The court ordered the sale of the journalist’s real estate at auction to cover the fine.
