Another Freezing Night: Forecasters Extend Orange Alert

An orange level of weather danger has been declared for Tuesday night.

“During the nighttime and morning hours on February 3 (Tuesday), minimum air temperatures across most of the country will range from minus 25 to minus 30 degrees Celsius, and minus 25 degrees in Minsk,” the Belhydromet report said.

A similar warning was in effect last night. During the day, a yellow level of danger remains in place in Belarus due to ice and icy conditions.

Tomorrow, weather conditions in Belarus will be determined by a high-pressure area formed in an Arctic air mass. Variable cloudiness is expected, with mostly no precipitation. At night and in the morning, light fog may form in some areas. Icy conditions are expected in certain locations, with black ice on roads. Winds will be light and variable. Maximum daytime temperatures will range from minus 10 to minus 16 degrees Celsius.

The night into Wednesday will also be frosty. On Thursday, weather fronts and warmer air masses will move into Belarus, with precipitation expected.
