An Algerian parliamentary delegation headed by Speaker of the National People’s Assembly Ibrahim Boughali is visiting Belarus from May 23 to 26. The visit is taking place at the invitation of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus and is the first in the history of Belarusian-Algerian relations.
The program includes meetings with the leadership of the Belarusian parliament, visits to industrial and agricultural enterprises, as well as cultural and historical sites. The sides plan to discuss interparliamentary cooperation along with bilateral cooperation in the political, trade-economic, and humanitarian spheres. A memorandum of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries is expected to be signed following the visit.
“Belarusian-Algerian interparliamentary cooperation is developing both bilaterally and within the framework of interaction in international parliamentary organizations. Friendship groups operate in the parliaments of Belarus and Algeria, conducting exchanges of visits and videoconference meetings to discuss trade and economic cooperation and the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level,” the press service of the House of Representatives noted.
Deputies of the House of Representatives have also joined the work of the Joint Belarusian-Algerian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation.
