A premiere of a children’s musical performance has taken place near the Sports Palace in Minsk. According to Minsk-Novosti, the show tells a story about good triumphing over artificial intelligence.
The performance, The Mystery of the New Year’s Card, is being staged daily from December 25 to January 7. The production is directed by Natallia Rusetskaya and Aleh Dolhikh.
“On the eve of the New Year, the sinister digital virus Cyberbiter sends its finest creation — Iiksik — into the human world to establish a new order there and deprive people of emotions. To achieve this, it is necessary to find and steal the Main Wish Card.
Meanwhile, ordinary children Masha and Pasha, though not fully understanding the meaning of sending greeting cards, decide to sign them for all their friends and loved ones. After meeting Iiksik, they set off together for the Land of New Year’s Cards. Gradually, the children’s warmth melts even the robot’s neural heart. Meeting new fairy-tale friends — a snowman, a Christmas tree, a little horse, a polar bear and others — the children go through trials that even the all-powerful ‘Google to the rescue’ could not handle.
After finding the card, Masha and Pasha decide to rewrite its best wishes for their friends — because when shared with loved ones, kind words become even stronger. At the last moment, the villain Cyberbiter tries to thwart the friends’ plans, but perishes, unable to withstand the overwhelming concentration of kindness and New Year’s spirit,” the city outlet describes the plot.
The Mystery of the New Year’s Card is not the only performance being staged in the festive period on the streets of the Belarusian capital. Two other productions are also being shown. The Secret of the New Year’s Mood begins at 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on the stage near the Upper City concert hall, while New Year’s Stories of Rakausky Courtyard starts at 6:00 p.m. at the venue of the same name.
