It was led by Stanislava Hlinnik, Deputy Director of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office.
The delegation also included Pavel Barkouski representing the United Transitional Cabinet, Leu Lvouski representing civil society, a representative of the political party platform, and Marharyta Vorykhava representing the Coordination Council.
The delegation’s participation was organised with the assistance of the Office of the Nordic Council of Ministers in Lithuania. During the session, Belarusian representatives discussed the situation in Belarus and prospects for further cooperation with parliamentarians from Nordic countries.
In her address, Hlinnik spoke about political prisoners, repression and threats to Belarus’s independence from Russia. She also thanked the Nordic countries for supporting the International Humanitarian Fund.
“There can be no lasting security in Europe without a democratic Belarus. Belarus must not become a consolation prize for Putin either. Belarusians must have the right to decide the future of their country. That is why our presence here matters. Our delegation represents all the key parts of the Belarusian democratic movement. And now we aim to make cooperation with the Nordic Council regular and substantive,” she said.
The Belarusian delegation seeks to obtain observer status, participate in annual sessions and work with the Nordic Council’s committees. The next joint step will be a roundtable on Belarus planned for December 8 in Stockholm, Tsikhanouskaya’s Office reported.
