On Sunday, October 25, police officers stopped a BMW driven by a Belarusian man. During an inspection, they found four people inside the vehicle who did not have valid visas or residence permits. It turned out that they had previously crossed the border between Belarus and Latvia illegally, the Latvian State Border Guard reports.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the driver under the article concerning the illegal transportation of people across the state border.
In addition, the Belarusian man faces administrative liability: he was in Latvia without a visa or residence permit. He also failed to complete the mandatory questionnaire intended to prevent threats to national security, which must be submitted 48 hours before entering the country.
