25 Evacuated From Dormitory in Bykhau After Bed Catches Fire

Twenty-five people, including eight children, were evacuated from a dormitory in Bykhau due to a fire.

A fire alarm was triggered at the dormitory on Gryshina Street. A bed caught fire in one of the rooms. A witness carried a man out of the room to fresh air and then returned with buckets to extinguish the fire. The rescued man was hospitalized.

By the time firefighters arrived, there were no open flames and the bed was smoldering. Emergency Ministry personnel evacuated 25 people from the building, including eight children. Seven units of specialized equipment were deployed at the scene.

The preliminary cause of the incident was careless handling of fire while smoking, the Emergency Ministry reported.
