Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the EU–Ukraine format. One of the topics discussed was Russia’s plans concerning Ukraine, Belarus and other areas across Europe.
“I separately briefed the leaders on Russian plans regarding Ukraine, Belarus and other directions in Europe. We are monitoring everything related to their political and military intentions. Our intelligence teams will exchange the available information in greater detail. We also discussed communication with the American side. We are doing everything possible to achieve genuine peace,” the Ukrainian leader said.
According to him, the partners acknowledged a significant strengthening of Ukraine’s position both on the battlefield and in its long-range capabilities.
“First of all, we discussed how to advance diplomacy for peace and ensure Europe’s participation in this process. All partners note that Ukraine’s position has become significantly stronger — both on the battlefield and in our strategic outlook. This matters, and precisely this kind of pressure can push toward proper and effective diplomacy. We agreed that our national security advisers will meet in the near future,” the president of Ukraine said.
Zelenskyy continues visiting the country’s northern regions. Today, he met with the heads of communities in Rivne, Zhytomyr and Volyn regions. Similar meetings took place yesterday in Chernihiv and Kyiv regions. Security on the northern front was the main topic.
“We spoke with community leaders, including about protecting this northern direction. Taking into account the existing threats. Yesterday, it was communities from Chernihiv and Kyiv regions; today, it is this part of our state. No direction will be left without attention,” he stressed.
“We must be strong, which is why strengthening defence, building fortifications and ensuring our troops are prepared for any development remain our priority,” he added.
