Zelenskyy Reminds Lukashenka About Events in Venezuela

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that Russia will once again try to drag Belarus into the war and reminded the Belarusian authorities about the events in Venezuela. Zelenskyy made the statement during a meeting with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi on April 17.

“We are also recording attempts by the occupation contingent to regroup its forces — most likely in order to compensate for a shortage of personnel. In this regard, it is becoming more obvious why military activity has increased on the territory of Belarus. According to intelligence data, roads leading to Ukrainian territory are being built in Belarusian border areas and artillery positions are being prepared,” Zelenskyy said.

According to Zelenskyy, he instructed that the Belarusian authorities be warned through appropriate channels about Ukraine’s readiness to defend its territory.

“We believe that Russia will once again try to drag Belarus into its war. I instructed that the de facto leadership of Belarus be warned through appropriate channels about Ukraine’s readiness to defend its land and independence. The nature and consequences of the recent events in Venezuela should keep the Belarusian leadership from making mistakes,” he said.

Syrskyi and Zelenskyy also discussed Ukraine’s future long-range operations.
